Reuters – Estimates say that nearly three thousand people nationwide, and fifteen thousand people worldwide have died of the H1N1 virus or Swine flu and nearly eighty thousand cases have been confirmed in hospitals and clinics across the United States and the world, the World Heath Organization reported. The influenza pandemic of 2010, while not nearly as prolific as the one that raged in 1918 still has citizens around the world in a near state of panic.

There would be no more headlines. 

It started in a lab at the CDC (Center for Disease Control), virologists were so relieved to finally have an effective vaccination against the virulent swine flu. Pressure to come up with something had come from the highest office in the land. In an attempt at speed the virologists had made two mistakes, first they used a live virus and second they didn’t properly test for side effects. Within days hundreds of thousands of vaccinations shipped across the US and the world. People lined up for the shots, like they were waiting in line for concert tickets. Fights broke out in drugstores as fearful throngs tried their best to get one of the limited shots. Within days the CDC knew something was wrong. Between 4 and 7 hours of receiving the shot roughly 95% succumbed to the active H1N1 virus in the vaccination. More unfortunate than the death of the infected was the added side effect of reanimation, it would be a decade before scientists were able to ascertain how that happened. The panic that followed couldn’t be measured. Loved ones did what loved ones always do, they tried to comfort, their kids or their spouses or their siblings, but what came back was not human not even remotely. Those people that survived their first encounter with these monstrosities usually did not come through unscathed, if bitten they had fewer than 6 hours of humanity left, the clock was ticking. During the first few hysteria ridden days of The Coming as it has become known, many thought the virus was airborne, luckily that was not the case or nobody would have survived. It was a dark time in human history. One from which we may never be able to pull ourselves out of the ashes from.

    This is so far the best series of books I think I have ever read. I became a part of the story as I read and quickly finished book one and then just as quickly had to finish all of the Zombie Fallout books in the series. Mark Tufo has such a way with words and his writing brings you into the story and you feel like you could be another member of the Talbot family. Michael Talbot is an amazing character. He made me laugh and cry the whole way through this book and in all of the next nine books of this series. Please give yourself the amazing journey of Michael Talbot and enjoy the way Mark Tufo brings loss, joy, love and shows you the meaning of family. I am so glad I stumbled across this wonderful writer and I am gonna keep reading his amazing work. Check him out and I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

    This is probably my favorite series ever I'm on book seven or eight and it just gets better the main character is awesome this series is funny as hell scary in parts and I shed a tear or two in areas if you like zombies in any way don't miss this series

    This is my fourth or fifth time reading this series and just like every other time, I just couldn’t put it down !. Mark Tufo has an incredible way of glueing you to each and every page !.. I’d always hated anything to do with zombies until read this book for the first time !.. I’m continually purchasing more of his books. I will hopefully have the complete collection eventually !.. Excellent read !.. Excellent author !

    Okay folks, I've read this entire series, but I wanted to leave a review here for the first volume to let you all know this is one series you do not want to pass up. I was already starting to get into the whole zombie thing, but once I read Mark Tufo's books I was nearly ruined! Other books just couldn't compare. There were parts that would make me lol which made my family wonder what was wrong with me. I've since downloaded and read his other series books as well. TRULY A MASTER WRITER! Definitely page turner and nail biter stories. Enjoy!

    Mark tufo is a fantastic writer, he makes the reader begging for the next book in the series. I was hooked from the first chapter & waited impatiently at times, for the next one to come out. I wasn't into zombie books but decided to read it because my husband loved them & wow! Was I wrong.
  • Too much humor

    I felt the book was a little unrealistic and with too much humor. The humor was inappropriately placed most of the time. I mean, don't get me wrong, I realize a zombie apocalypse is unrealistic in itself, but the author could have taken me there-if only he held back a little on the humor and used a more realistic thought process . It got better as it went along, however. I would read the next book, just to see what happens to the characters. The character building was decent, as it kept me interested. It's a decent read and if you like apocalypse books, this one is entertaining

    I love the way this is written I'm first person. And I like how the story unfolds to include vampires. Just a regular guy protecting his family gets caught in the middle of a vampire family feud. Could be corny, but it's not!
