    I expected a good ghost story. What I got was a mixture of “The Shining” and “Witches of Eastwick”, but without the craft and style. Sure, there are moments, especially at the beginning, where the novel reaches a frightening pitch. Yet, the further I read, the more hackneyed the plot and characters became. No subtly here. Nothing really surprising. By the end, it’s more of a shrug than a wallop. A few more novels do a much better job in this genre than this one. It’s not unique and recycles too many other previous ideas.

    While I found the pace a times to be slow and it was difficult to get into at first once I was hooked I couldn't put it down!

    It started out fairly good but then went downhill. Did not like the idea of murdering children for adult pleasure and the ghost did not have much place in the story. Did not like at all the ending was terrible/ Do not buy.

    Weak character development, unclear plot, random unrelated events, the "ghosts" weren't so much frightening as they were pathetic. The "herbalists" were ridiculous. I wasn't even sure I had finished the book or if all of it didn't get downloaded ,but sadly it was all there. Do not waste the money or your time to read it!

    Absolutely wonderful writing. It catches you from the beginning and takes you on a whirlwind ride. The people are alive with personality and become well known to you. Or so you think. Full of twists and surprise, this is Chris Bojalian at the top of his game. Don't miss this one.
