    The Crepes of Wrath by Sarah Fox is the first book in A Pancake House Mystery series. Marley McKinney has agreed to The Flip Side Pancake House in Wildwood Cove, Washington while her cousin, Jimmy Coulson, is ill (double pneumonia). She has taken a leave of absence from the law firm where she works as a legal assistant. Jimmy finally gets released from the hospital and is at home resting. But then Jimmy is found dead on the rocks by Leigh Hunter (a waitress at the restaurant) of a cliff near his home. Did he accidentally fall down the cliff while walking? What was he doing out alone? Then there is the guy lurking around her cousin’s workshop and the stolen paintings inside the workshop. Did Jimmy steal them? Marley does not want Jimmy’s good name tainted and, reluctantly, starts asking questions. Will Marley be able to pull out the pieces together to figure out the puzzle? I found The Crepes of Wrath to be easy to read, but it was a lifeless book. The characters were not fleshed out and given life. This is especially true for Ivan, the chef. The pace is too slow and some information is repeated frequently (it was annoying). The mystery was not prominent in the book (at least not in the beginning). I was 35% of the way through the book and there was still no investigation. The mystery was interesting (there were even some little twists), but the reader can solve it. I give The Crepes of Wrath 2 out of 5 stars. It was okay for a first book, but some things were just off. Like where were the police? Why was Marley removing evidence from a crime scene? Marley notices a clue that no one else found. These are just two examples. Not everything added up in the end. The book reminded me of a rough draft, not a finished novel.

    I got to read this book for free for my honest review from random house through Houseparty and netgalley. I had never read a Sarah Fox book before so I didn't know what to expect but I wound up really enjoying this book. She has a great writing style and the plot was quite good. It moved at good pace so it really held my attention and I could wait to get to the end to have to see the murder solved. I hope there will be more books in this series and I can't wait to read another Sarah Fox book. #RHMysteryPack #Sponsored

    I received this book for free from Chatterbox in exchange for an honest review. I love to read, especially mysteries/intrigue. This book was a quick and easy read (think beach book) but was a little less than captivating. It started a little slow but picked up in the middle. However, I felt it was a bit over the top in terms of circumstances happening to the main character. It reminded me of the old Murder She Wrote episodes I watched with my grandma. The main character seems to have bad luck everywhere she goes. All in all, not the worst book I ever read but not one I will read again. Oh, and I was not impressed by the title. If I had not been given this book to read the title would never have enticed me to buy it.

    I received a free copy from Chatterbox and received a free Chat Pack. This is the first book I have read by Sarah Fox. I thought it was good but not excellent. The main character, Marley, takes a leave of absence from her job and moves in with her cousin,Jimmy, to run his restaurant while he is ill. Things take a drastic turn when her cousin is murdered. Not only is she left with the responsibility of the restaurant, but she also takes it upon herself to solve Jimmy's murder. My biggest issue with the story is that Marley seemed like the main character in a bad horror movie. She constantly put herself in danger. Overall the book was a good read.

    I couldn't resist asking for this book because of the title. It's too cute, and indeed, someone felt that it was to die for. Working in a pancake house isn't the dream job for most people. Marley McKinney had not had that on her to-do list, but her cousin Jimmy got sick. That landed her in in the middle of the Flip Side Pancake House, and, murder! Now Jimmy is dead, and someone is up to no good at all. Someone, who couldn't be Jimmy, put stollen property on Jimmy's place. What's a legal assistant who is flipping pancakes for a now deceased cousin to do? She can't go home with two unsolved mysteries can she? This book was cute! It also has lots of food, and recipes! It will make you hungry if you aren't careful. I liked Wildwood Cove and the folks there will probably develop more with time, in the sequels. My copy came from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review and nothing more.

    This book is everything a cozy mystery should be - small town, romance, a suprise ending. Marley is living in Seattle , working her life away, when her cousin Jimmy invites her to his small town to help run his pancake house, The Flip Side, while he is stuck in the hospital. Marley is enjoying the easy going life in a small beach town...until she finds her cousin Jimmy, dead, on a rock cliff. You'll love following Marley's amateur sleuthing as she gets to the bottom of her cousin's death, as well as discovering whether or not big city living is where she's meant to be. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because there were parts that were a little slow moving, and I wasn't completely rooting for Marley. Other than that, classic cozy mystery material right here.
